Late on winter night, thirteen-year-old Minto steals away with Stevie, her older sister’s baby. You see, Stevie has just been put up for adoption and Minto will have nothing to do with it. Now out on the mean streets with only a few dollars in her pocket, Minto must figure out how to raise a child among the diverse and colourful population of downtown’s hidden shacktown. It won’t be easy… because out here, not everyone has your back. Saving Stevie is a slangy yet moving story about love, family, and ultimately, the meaning of responsibility. It’s also a realistic story about homeless and marginalized youth, the all too often forgotten tens of thousands of kids whose ranks grow each and every year.
