The Great Satan
2010
The first of his compelling new Shadow Squadron series, author David Black has produced his own fictional nightmare scenario: What if the Iraqi weapons that were said to be dismantled in the late 1990s included the ultimate WMD? And what if the deposing of Saddam Hussein left one of his most ruthless military leaders still at large, actively seeking a customer for Iraq’s only nuclear bomb? In the bitterly divisive aftermath of the Iraq War, the former political leaders of the UK and USA are condemned as deceitful and mendacious, allegedly fabricating excuses for their martial actions. In The Great Satan, author Black and his main character - Special Forces team leader Pat Farrell - are so close as to be synonymous, both having worked as London taxi drivers during a tenure as Territorial SAS members, ready to be called into action in time of national emergency. The principal difference is that the author is now retired from the forces, while his fictional counterpart is left to contend with 'the real world . . . with direct relevance to the grisly global horrors being perpetrated today.' In The Great Satan, the current world situation meets the page-turning action prose of pulp fiction. The central antagonist is Colonel Jamal Al-Mahdi, veteran of Saddam s campaign against the Kurds, who transports the ultimate hidden WMD to the UK. The nuclear bomb that is the greatest Satan of all, awaiting deployment by a group of young British jihadi at a point where we can only hope fiction diverges entirely from fact . . .

Dark Empire
2012
In the second of the thrilling SAS Shadow Squadron series, Sgt. Pat Farrell and his men are back in action, in DARK EMPIRE. Pat and his reserve SAS troop are on a training mission in Kenya, when they are suddenly ordered into the heart of Africa, on what should be a straightforward humanitarian rescue mission. Unfortunately, nothing is straightforward on the Dark Continent. Pat and his men quickly find themselves trapped, deep inside the primitive, war-ravaged Congo. Hunted by Congolese government forces and a savage legion of drug-crazed guerrillas, things don't always go to plan...even for the SAS!

The Devil's Web
2014
Al-Qaeda has taken a series of hammer blows since 9/11. Terror plots unravelled, millions of dollars in illegal funds confiscated and many high-ranking commanders arrested or killed by the West’s security forces. Hidden high in the mountainous badlands of northern Pakistan, Zahira Khan, Pakistan’s newly appointed Al-Qaeda leader, is secretly plotting a new and terrible ‘spectacular’ to avenge the martyrdom of their spiritual leader, Osama bin-Laden. His diabolical attack will rival the merciless assaults on New York, Washington D.C., and the devastating 7/7 bombings of the London Underground. Zahira Khan’s sinister plan will unite rival terror organisations and send shock waves of horror and revulsion around the world; its message simple: Al-Qaeda can still strike anywhere, and the West, despite it’s awesome firepower and past success, can do nothing to stop them. In the shadowy intelligence world, there have been growing rumours of something new. With the assistance of British GCHQ, the CIA notice something strange, and then they get lucky… SAS Sgt Pat Farrell and the men of Shadow Squadron will be tested far beyond the limits of their usual courage and determination, in the latest terrifying battle against the forces of evil, when they meet the deadliest of foes…
