I love reading and I love writing books for readers who enjoy chick lit and mysteries with romance mixed in. ___ Shelley Burbank is a mystery and women’s fiction author and journalist based in Maine and San Diego, California. Her short fiction has been published in True Story Magazine, San Diego Woman Magazine, and The Maine Review. Her debut novel, FINAL DRAFT: An Olivia Lively Mystery was published by Encircle Publications in March 2023. A note on my rating system: I give four-star reviews for books I really like, that are well-written, and accomplish what they set out to do. I rarely give out five-stars. When I do it's because the book does all the above PLUS has that something special in the language/style or especially quirky delights or kept me reading non-stop because I just couldn't put it down regardless of any negative factors. Three-star books, for me, are average. Maybe a good story but lacking in pacing, characterization, syntax, etc. I don't review books that I'd give two stars or less. Writing books is hard. We don't always hit it out of the ballpark. I never want to discourage anyone from picking up the pen or sitting down at the keyboard. _______________ PRAISE... Shelley Burbank's Portland, Maine P.I., Liv Lively, is a memorable character, flawed but self-aware, determined to go her own way and, in Final Draft, a champion of the underdog. I'm looking forward to reading more of Liv's forays into crime-solving. –Kaitlyn Dunnett, author of the Liss MacCrimmon Mysteries Sassy, stylish Olivia Lively is a private investigator with almost as many skeletons in her closet as her clients. And her debut in this fast-paced page turner will delight mystery readers the world over. –Cynthia Dagnal-Myron, author and award-winning Chicago Sun Times journalist
