Everything’s going sideways for Sideways in the pages of Sideways—and that means trouble for our titular hero. Trapped in the Dark Multiverse with no escape, Derek James comes face to face with this world’s ruler, Perrus. A so-called benevolent dictator, Perrus rules his world with an iron fist and forces its citizens into slavery, so Sideways decides it’s time for a revolt. The revolution proves unsuccessful, but it leads Sideways to a “super” discovery that could save this world and himself.

In the wake of his mother’s death, Derek learns that home is where the hell is. Despondent over missing her funeral and shunned by his father because of it, Sideways reunites with his best friend Ernie for some heart-to-heart talk. Her family life is in shambles, too, as Derek learns her folks are divorcing and splitting up the family. The heartbreak prompts them to take a quick jaunt to Paris, where Sideways ends up getting called into action because of a terrorist attack. A hero in France but a pariah at home, Sideways ponders his future—but he may not have much future left, as Dark Star Sciences boss Leto learns he’s back and dispatches super-assassin Bolt to capture him. Maybe stay in Paris for another croissant instead?

Sideways…caught between a cop and a hard case! Derek’s got the cops in his house when he uncovers an important clue that could crack his mother’s case wide open. Seems the powers that be at Dark Sciences know about his superpowers, and they’ve got the paperwork to prove it. But then metahuman mercenary Bolt crashes the party, puts the kibosh on Derek and gets his hands on the evidence. Bolt takes Derek back to Professor Portefoy, whose plan is straight out of the evil-scientist drain the Dark Matter energy from Derek to steal his rift powers!

Trapped at mysterious Dark Star Sciences, Sideways learns how Leto has been following him all along, as well as her plans for the Dark Multiverse as an endless energy source to be mined—and his powers are her way in. Sideways goes over the edge and breaks free, battling Bolt again in the process. Will Derek’s quest for vengeance for his mother’s death lead to a rift he can’t escape or control?

Secrets are revealed and new mysteries emerge as Derek uncovers his mother’s killer and the origins of his powers in this, the final chapter of his story, for now.

Sideways unleashes his “super” secret weapon against Perrus in an effort to free the oppressed people and escape to his home dimension. He’ll get some additional help from the newly discovered Seven Soldiers, but only if someone makes a heroic ultimate sacrifice. Plus, a bonus backup story in which Sideways meets the Unseen!!
