
SIMON WARNER is a lecturer, journalist and broadcaster who teaches Popular Music Studies at the University of Leeds. He has been a live rock reviewer and counterculture obituarist for the Guardian and Independent and is a regular contributor to the UK Beat magazine Beat Scene. He has particular interests in the relationship between the Beat writers and rock music and his latest volume, Text and Drugs and Rock'n'Roll: The Beats and Rock Culture, published by Bloomsbury in Spring 2013 explores this connection. His earlier titles include Rockspeak: The Language of Rock and Pop (1996), Howl for Now (2005) and Summer of Love: The Beatles, Art and Culture in the Sixties (2008).
