Astronomy seems like a complicated subject, whose theories extend beyond the average mind. I think this perspective is simply false. Even the most complex theories can be broken down into simple enough terms in a way that anyone reading can understand. The title of this book is thus “Simple Astronomy.” My overall purpose of writing and publishing this work is to explain some of the most intriguing concepts and findings in astronomy, and to explain them in the simplest possible way. We begin first at the sun, and move outwards from the inner terrestrial worlds to the very outer reaches of the solar system. From there we explore the stars that give light to the cosmos and make up our galaxy. Beyond the Milky Way, we explore the distant galaxies while looking billions of years into the past. From the Earth to the billions of galaxies that make up the cosmic web, this book is essentially a quick, yet simple crash course on astronomy.
