
Sithuraj Ponraj has been writing poetry in Tamil and English since his school days. His Tamil poems have appeared regularly in Singapore’s Tamil Murasu and various Indian magazines and literary journals. He has read his Tamil poems in radio programmes organised by Singapore’s Tamil radio station, then-named Olikkalanjiyam FM 96.8. His Tamil poems, as well as his short stories, have received notice and mention. His Tamil poems and short stories will be published as two separate collections in early 2016, with their English translations expected to appear in middle of next year. Conversant in several languages, Sithu is also actively involved in the translation of literary works. He has translated works in Tamil, French and Spanish to English. He has most recently translated Singapore Tamil writer Kamala Devi Aravindan’s Nuval and Other Stories to English. At present, he is working on translation a selection of Latin American Spanish poetry to Tamil. He is also completing a work in English on “The Body in Women’s Poetry in Tamil” to be ready in late 2016.
