Evelyn's contentment at reuniting with Zack is cut short when one of his teammates—with no explanation—asks her to steer clear of the quarterback as a "personal favor." She initially decides to ignore the so-called advice, but then—realizing that she is becoming more and more attached to him, frightened by the intensity of her feelings—decides to cut him off, avoiding him and not answering his texts. When Zack's performance at the ultimate game of the season falters, Evelyn comes to the conclusion that she and Zack are better off together—but then her roommate shows her the front page of the newspaper with Zack doing something that he shouldn't have been.
