Who’s kidnapping and slaughtering Black women and girls in NYC? For the Harlem branch of the NYPD and their star detective and police officer, Vella Price, the crimes have gone unsolved for nearly a year. Set in modern NYC, and despite both being young Black women, Vella Price and Corrie Watson couldn't be any more different. Vella is a 27-year-old tough, rookie detective and police officer. She loves her job and seeking out justice for the most vulnerable. However, she is unappreciated at work and faces daily mircoaggressions in society. Corrie Watson is a 19-year-old pretty, charismatic, and privileged art student who seems to want for nothing–except the love of her parents and for the world to be a better place. When dozens of Black women and girls turn up missing—and then later found dead, these two women have their worlds collide in this fantastical murder mystery in the discovery of who, or even what, is behind it all.
