Christian, writer, artist I combine my passion for literature with my love for teaching & learning in my work as an educator/curriculum developer, book critic, and writer. I write and review material for both children and adults, mainly in the areas of poetry, nonfiction, and literary fiction, centered around spiritual, artistic, environmental, and historical subjects/themes. As an artist, I bring a creative lens of seeing the world to everything that I do. My goal is to share the beauty of the written word with all audiences, illuminating it in every way that I can. Before writing, my first love was reading. I adore the classics. Additionally, as a lifelong learner, I enjoy reading about many disciplines, including theology, art history (Impressionism, Dutch Golden Age, Baroque, etc.), U.S. and global history, psychology, education, film, theater (especially about my favorite playwrights, Arthur Miller, Henrik Ibsen, and Eugene O’Neill), and nutrition/wellness. I’ve read avidly throughout my life, experiencing the artistry of a broad range of authors who have come to influence my work. Above all, they taught me the importance of being unique; the ways in which they innovated and created their own niches in the literary world were what inspired me most, encouraging me to blaze my own trail, being authentically myself as a writer. As for my own authorly endeavors, I love writing across a variety of genres. In particular, I love writing poetry, devotionals, essays, and short stories (sometimes, though, they can be rather verbose!) for both children and adults. I am committed to sharing messages of positivity, faith, community, peace, hope, joy, and love in my work. I explore such themes as the beauty of nature, childhood memories, time, and grace in my written pieces. My goal is to inspire others and honor God through writing. Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy my work! Disclaimer: Works of other contributors within the secular anthologies and magazines where my writing appears may not necessarily reflect my personal views.

Margie Deck (@margiedeck) lives in the Pacific Northwest with too many books, exactly the right number of husbands, and not enough dogs.
