Simona's grandmother lives in a very large house, all alone. Then spooky things start to happen in the big garden - and Simona and her friends realize that they have to take care of Grandma. The house that Grandma lives in is the biggest house Simona knows about, it was once a hotel. Now only Grandma lives in the house, all alone. There have always been many strange noises in the house - that's how it is in old houses, says Simona's mother. But Simona firmly believes that she hears voices, even from completely empty rooms, and the scariest of all are the voices in the room of the Sighs, the voices that ask Simona to hurry before it is too late. The statues In the old hotel garden are four huge stone statues, they look like a family. One morning, suddenly one of them is turned so that it has its face the opposite way. How could that have happened? Then suddenly some of the statues lie on the ground, even though they were firmly attached. Simona wants to find out what's going on. Then something happens that should not have happened: Grandma falls on the ice and breaks her leg. She has to go to the hospital. But when she comes home again, Simona can live in the house with her and help her with daily chores. Maybe she finds out where the sounds come from and what happens to the statues? The cassette player Grandma is tired and sleeps a lot, so she gives Simona a cassette player with an old tape in it, which she can entertain herself with. On the old tape, Simona finds recordings of sounds from the room of the Sighs. Is that a message? Then Simona finds a chest with a handkerchief on it, embroidered with the initials CB Can it come from someone who has lived in the house before…?
