Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a performer and dancing on the stage for everyone to see. Never, in all of those innocent dreams, did I ever think they would include stripping for my dad’s best friend. I’ve never taken the traditional route. When most of my friends were going off to college, I chose to strike out on my own and chase my dreams along the Las Vegas Strip. It was there that I met Rowan, and it’s Rowan who is the reason I’m dancing alongside a pole instead of in a cabaret. Rowan’s gone now…but his gambling debts aren’t. Now, they’re my debts. At least, that’s what the “collectors” tell me. They’re the kind that carry guns and hit women…hit them hard. Stripping is the only way I can make enough money to keep the goons at bay. It isn’t the kind of performing that I ever envisioned, but it’s the hardest acting gig I’ve ever had. I have to pretend to like the men in the audience, make them think I want them, too. It’s all an act…until it isn’t. It’s no act when I look into Jonathan’s eyes. Still, when he pursues me, I second-guess myself. I’ve been wrong more than I’ve been right in love. Besides, he’s a rich and successful businessman. Why would he want anything more than an anonymous Vegas fling? No, I need to stay away from him. And I would have if he hadn’t shown up for dinner at my parents’ house. Now, he’s determined to know the truth behind my story. Can I trust him with it? And more importantly, can I trust him with my heart?
