O teologii v Teologické sumě

Postup Sumy teologie je v jistém smyslu kruhový: vychází od Boha jako Stvořitele a směřuje k Bohu jako k cíli stvoření a naplnění dějin. Pochopit přesně stvoření, pád do hříchu i jeho nápravu vykoupením můžeme nyní jen částečně. V plnosti, jíž je naše lidství schopné, dojdeme i k plnějšímu poznání toho, co dnes známe jen částečně. Tuto skutečnost můžeme v jistém ohledu vztáhnout i na samotnou Tomášovu Sumu. Čteme-li první otázku, najdeme v ní mnohá témata, která nejsou ještě dokonale vysvětlena a detailně promyšlena, např. moudrost, věda, příčiny, teorie a praxe apod. Na prvním místě je to ale Bůh sám, který není jen předmětem (či subjektem) teologie nebo jakýmsi tématem Sumy, ale je to náš Pán a Stvořitel, z jehož rukou jsme vyšli a do jehož náruče směřujeme.
