Sunil Ranjan Khamrui was born at village Kharusha in Paschim Medinipur district, West Bengal, India on March 13, 1943. After completing his schooling from Jhakra High School, he studied ISc and BSc Honours in Mathematics at Vidyasagar College, Kolkata. He received his MSc in Pure Mathematics from University of Calcutta in 1966. Having served as a teacher at Natuk Vivekananda Vidyamandir, a higher secondary school for nearly four decades, he retired on March 31, 2003. He now devotes himself full-time to reading and writing.
