LEINIL FRANCIS YU was first recognized after winning Wizard Magazine’s Drawing Board Contest, his first published work. Years later, Whilce Portacio submitted samples of Leinil’s work to Marvel Comics, instantly getting a chance to work on one of the publisher’s hottest titles, Wolverine. He continued working on Marvel, moving on to the core X-Men title (which was being written by Chris Claremont at the time) before crossing-over to other comic book publishers, co-creating High Roads with writer Scott Lobdell for Cliffhanger, Superman: Birthright with Mark Waid for DC Comics, and Silent Dragon with Andy Diggle for Vertigo. Leinil found his way back to Marvel, and was even named as one of the 6 Top Guns: RELOADED artists. His style, which he himself describes as "Dynamic Pseudo-Realism", brought life to Marvel’s Comic Event for 2008, Secret Invasion, written by superstar scribe Brian Michael Bendis. 2010 reunites him with long –time collaborator and friend Gerry Alanguilan, providing the visuals for the second storyline of Ultimate Comics Avengers, and Superior written by Mark Millar of WANTED and KICK-ASS. He is best known for his eight-year run as writer of the DC Comics' title The Flash, as well as his scripting of the limited series Kingdom Come and Superman: Birthright, and his work on Marvel Comics' Captain America.
