How has it come to this? Red and June are trapped in a burning school, surrounded by enemies who are evolving into something worse than before. The infected, known as 'Helpers', are no longer simply trying to infect the survivors. Now they're organizing into effective forces that can overwhelm the scant military left to protect the populace. On the fourth day of the apocalypse, Red and June will find themselves separated and forced to endure trials they might not survive. Meanwhile, Porter has been infected and captured by the very military that might've once protected him. Now they want to study him, but the onslaught of organized helpers will force them to leave their base and head south. Will Red and June reunite and continue their trip to Texas, or will their journey end here?
