Alyssa Best has just quit her day job as a dental hygienist to open a bakery. She can't help but chuckle at the irony: Alyssa has gone from fixing cavities to causing them. Her last name “Best” is more than just a surname, it’s the word that motivates her to be the best baker in the city of Houston. When a photo of one of her cakes inadvertently appears in the Houston Chronicle, Alyssa’s fledgling business, Sweet Tooth Bakery, garners unsolicited attention. Orders flood in faster than she can keep up. Before long, she’s in the running for a prestigious award at Houston’s annual Bridal Extravaganza. Unfortunately, Alyssa butts heads with Ben Palmer, the owner of Sugar Coated, a local Goliath bakery chain/franchise. He’s also up for the award and the culinary school prodigy is not happy to see a home baker as his chief competition. To be honest, he’s been an opponent of Texas’s new cottage baker law and would like to see all home bakers shut down. He’s even more upset that Lindy Cain, famed reporter for KHOU’s daily segment, Business Flips and Flops, is doing a piece on Alyssa. The competition heats up between the two bakeries and chaos ensues! Adding Alyssa's three rambunctious foster kids to the mix only makes things crazier, especially in the days leading up to the announcement about the award. Will Alyssa and Ben end up falling head-over-heels in the frosting—er, in love—along the way? Will Sweet Tooth Bakery win the coveted award? Only time will tell in this sweeter-than-sugar tale.
