Kevin and Peggy had been married quite a few years. It was Kevin's first marriage, Peggy's second. Peggy had a child from her first marriage, Robin. Kevin and Peggy had tried for many years to have more children but Peggy continued to suffer complications. One stormy afternoon Kevin was called to the scene of an accident and unfortunately it was his wife Peggy. She didn't survive the accident but Kevin was grateful she had not yet picked up Robin from school, he couldn't imagine losing them both. As Robin matured she took over all the responsibilities of the home, including taking care of Kevin.
