When Earth was first created, only twelve souls were born to this planet, each of whom overlooked an area of human life that they were able to wield power through. During countless life cycles on this planet, the Twelve Founding Souls were seen as Gods and Goddesses, crafted by the culture and time of the humans around them. After being reincarnated over and over again with lives of similar themes, the Souls grew tired and bored, collectively deciding to leave Earth along with their powers. Before doing so, however, each Soul created a Descendant group of magical creatures that were half-magic and half-human to serve as a bridge between the Souls and humanity. Now, almost 500 years later, the few remaining Descendant groups live hidden in a forest, protected from the humans who had waged war on them. When Lena awakens in a magical forest after surviving a near-fatal head injury, she finds herself with no memory of her past or present self. As she tries to find where she fits in among witches, fae, sirens, and other creatures, Lena becomes increasingly suspicious that her home is not in the magic realm but the human. She quickly falls into the company of Rion- a wolf-shifter and Descendant of the Fourth who is in search of his long-lost mate. Although he doesn't know the first thing about her, both fate and intuition lead him to believe that Lena is the key to finding his other half. While Lena struggles to find her footing, she can't deny the feeling that the path she used to walk leads to Rion's future.
