Tea Jay was born in Florida in 1993 but relocated to Southeastern Connecticut when she was four. Tea Jay had a chaotic childhood, being adopted twice by the age of seven. She struggles with living with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) which causes her to experience emotions at a wide, intense range. After the birth of her autistic son, she became a mental health advocate, seeking to destroy the stigma of mental illness and Autism. In her debut book, In The Gray Area of Being Suicidal, she chronicles adventures and her journey with her own debilitating mental illness and how she not only survived but thrived. Currently she spends her days as a stay-at-home-mom, endlessly creating new fictional worlds for mentally ill and disabled characters to live in and beat the odds. She has a heavy focus on YA fiction as she feels it is crucial to get young people educated on mental illness.
