I’m not your “normal” writer. I didn’t aspire from a young age to become a writer. My last day of high school, my English teacher said, “There is a book in each of you. Whether it’s a how-to, non-fiction, fiction—find that book.” I thought, right. My hubby reads a lot, so I began to pick up the books he’d buy—mysteries and thrillers. But he traveled, so I only read while he was in town…too scared to sleep by myself. LOL. Years later, hubby and I planned a trip to an amusement park with the kids, and since I can’t ride roller coasters anymore, I went to B&N and picked up a book. A romance. I read all day and stayed up most of the night to finish the book. After that, I read every romance I could find. I’d always kept my teacher’s words in the back of my mind, “There is a book in you,” and sat down one day to write a scene that kept playing in my mind. The floodgates on my imagination opened and before I knew what a critique partner was, I’d written four books (I use the word “written” very loosely, they needed a tremendous amount of work). I never planned it, never dreamed about it, never expected to get such joy from it, but writing has become a vital part of my life. Being the youngest of five children (my hubby the youngest of seven), much of my writing centers around family and relationships. I thank my parents for their example of how to live a life of love and happiness. And I thank my siblings, in-laws, nephews, nieces, and friends for their constant support and encouragement. I live near Houston, Texas, with my real-life hero husband (the man is my inspiration each and every day) and our two children—who fill my heart to overflowing. I am blessed beyond belief and tickled to be able to write the stories of my heart.
