Verdun was a watershed of great importance in the First World War while the Somme battle marked the beginning of the passing of the main burden of the war from France to Britain and the Dominions. Written by a leading military historian and including a wealth of first-hand accounts on an audio CD, Imperial War Museum's 1916 Experience contains 30 fascinating facsimile items of First World War memorabilia integrated into the pages of the book, allowing the reader to re-live this cataclysmic period of history.
