Whit and his team must find ways to overcome the obstacles that arise at every turn while keeping an eye on a rival expeditionary team and their own advisor, While Whit is still exploring his own origin and uniqueness, he finds himself on a concurrent intelligence mission for the kingdom of Ayce.

With only a few weeks left to the end of summer, Whit Varian and part of his team journeys to the Pixie/Gnome country of Coria with the intent of retrieving two additional artifacts from the Augur's Eye. Thinking the task would be easy, Whit and his team are embroiled in more political turmoil, pitting his team against the Queen of Coria on one hand and the vicious magicians circle on the other. The execrable Greeb Deechie intrudes into Whit’s life again even as Greeb’s cousin arrives in Herringbone to continue the romantic relationship with Whit started in Coria. Before his schooling ends, events cascade as Whit’s life is threatened, and the pursuit of the Augur’s Eye becomes more dangerous than Whit could ever imagine.
