Some little boys want to be firemen or astronauts when they grow up. From the moment Jacob understood what his fathers did, he never wanted to do anything but fight demons. Andrew, Jacob’s father and a vampire, fights demons because it’s a necessity: few others have the strength or skill to kill the strange creatures that started appearing the very night his son was born. He carries with him some guilt, too, and the suspicion that the magic that made Jacob’s very life possible also opened the way for the demons. The last thing he wants is for his son to ever join this fight and get hurt. As the years pass, however, and Andrew watches Jacob grow up and grow more determined, he slowly has to accept there’s little he can do to deter his son. It doesn’t help that Nicholas, Jacob’s other dad and Andrew’s Childe, starts giving Jacob sword-fighting lessons under the cover of playing, or that Jacob discovers his mother’s diaries and comes to the same conclusion Andrew did concerning his origins and the demons’. Through snapshots covering Jacob’s life from birth to adulthood, watch all three members of this unusual family change, grow up, and find their place in the world.

In the novels Fangs & Lullabies and Demons & Lullabies, I have attempted to give readers a peek into the very unusual family formed by Jacob and his fathers, Andrew and Nicholas, both of whom are vampires. These two stories offer snapshots of Jacob’s and his fathers’ lives from his birth to adulthood. This sample ebook is constructed the same way, although with fewer and shorter snapshots. Some of them were written as answers to prompts from readers and first posted as flash fiction on my site; some were written specifically for this ebook. Whether you are just discovering the members of this little family or have followed their adventures before, I hope you will enjoy these glimpses into their lives.

As Master vampire Alan returns from a fight against demons, he is furious. His Childe, Jeremy, acted foolishly on the battlefield and was hurt by a demon. For this, Alan will punish him, and Jeremy knows and accepts it, kneeling at his Sire’s feet as soon as he enters their lair. A human accompanied Jeremy home, however: his lover and submissive, Tyler. Right away, Tyler claims responsibility for Jeremy being wounded and asks to be punished in his place. Alan is initially reluctant to bring a novice into the relationship he shares with Jeremy, but the appeal of playing with a new sub for a night wins him over – and it doesn’t hurt that Jeremy and Tyler look very pretty kneeling next to each other. Will Tyler endure Jeremy’s punishment until its very end, or will it prove too much for him? And how does Jeremy feel about sharing his lover with his Sire for one night… or maybe more than that?

After a night spent with two vampires – a night that left him sore from a spanking… and more – Tyler tries to sneak out without disturbing them. Doing so, he earns himself another punishment from Master vampire Alan. Only after a new spanking does he have permission to leave, as well as permission to return later in the day. Before dealing with Tyler, Alan ordered his Childe Jeremy not to intervene. Jeremy, however, can’t stand being left out and breaks his Sire’s orders. His punishment, although entirely different from Tyler’s, turns out to be just as agonizing, especially when Alan draws a painful confession from him. It all started as one night, but all three men were quick to decide they wanted more. For that, they’ll have to be honest with each other and themselves and together figure out the rules of this new game…

The first night Dom Alan shared with Tyler and Jeremy was all about punishments for the two submissives.
