A Wing and a Prayer

2020

His life has gone to hell. Now his heart is about to go to the dogs. Beelzebub has the perfect manager-in-chief of Hell…until the number of condemned souls nosedives, and God slaps an “Out of Business” sign on the Fiery Gates. Now Beelzebub is just a laid-off demon banished to live out a mortal life in his idea of Los Angeles. Complete with nosy neighbors and a yappy, pint-sized dog that won’t stay off his lawn. Jillian Torres is finally free of one hellish relationship and has no interest in going down that road again. So what if her best friend reports that their new neighbor is super-smoking-hot? Jillian's hands are too full running a Chihuahua rescue to notice or care…until Rufus, one of her escape-artist rescue dogs, makes a beeline for the man’s yard. Three things hit her immediately when she meets Benjamin Blake. He’s definitely super-hot. His grumpy attitude doesn’t quite hide the sadness in his smoky hazel eyes. And Rufus adores him. Thus begins Jillian’s subversive quest to win Ben’s heart—for Rufus. But along the way, Ben and Jillian find everything they never thought they wanted. This third book in The Devil You Know series is a standalone romance with no cliffhanger. Contains a fresh-off-the-River-Styx-boat demon, a rescue-minded woman, a single-minded Chihuahua, a crime anyone with a soul would commit, and puppies.

But an emergency call to pick up another contractor’s dropped project—and his new, drop-dead gorgeous client—has Bill suspecting God’s pulling a few chalk strings. After all, the old man’s been dropping hints it’s time to settle down. Callie Donaldson’s fill-in contractor is the answer to her prayers, but did he have to be this hot? With a fashion design company to run and her eleven-year-old daughter to raise, dating isn’t even on her radar. Instead, getting her house ready for the party to launch her new line in time for Christmas is her number-one priority. But when it comes to timing, God has it all figured out. Even when it appears the only presents waiting under Callie’s tree are broken dreams, a broken career...and maybe a broken heart. A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Many reams of dead trees later, she’s happy to announce that her debut novel, Fringe Benefits, was published by Pink Petal Books on April 8, 2010. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the new journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Her paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, was released on August 5, 2010. While Fringe Benefits is a straight contemporary romance, she writes in a variety of genres, including paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection. After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor in addition to writing fiction. She lives with her husband and an explosively fluffy Pomeranian mix. Her house is pink, but don’t hold that against her.
