Part of Series

Following the culmination of the most recent murder case, things feel normal in Heaven Springs for the first time in a long time. Jonathan and Mandy are together, Charlene found romance of her own, and Angelica and Marshall finally went out on a date together! Colin is seething somewhere, plots revenge for what happened, but Mandy is sure that they’ll be able to handle him when that time comes. However, everything falls like a house of cards when someone close to Angelica is found murdered. He leaves behind a note written in red ink. I’m sorry, Angelica. He was always here. With her grandmother now implicated in yet another murder case, Mandy will stop at nothing to uncover the truth behind what happened. At the same time, Emmet’s intern says she saw him get kidnapped and he’s been missing ever since! All of Heaven Springs is in a frenzy. It’s up to Mandy to put things back in their place again. Emmet’s political rival takes the opportunity to amass power with his departure. Was he the one who orchestrated his kidnapping? The victim had many enemies, but who would want to see him dead? Worst of all, Colin kidnaps Angel and hauls him off to Hellmouth. At first, Mandy believes this is just his revenge plot since she kept rejecting his advances, but soon realizes it all adds up to something more. There, Mandy uncovers the truth behind everything that happened in Heaven Springs over the recent months. Finally, she can put a stop to things. In doing so, she loses the one who helped shape her into the person she became.

Constance Barker lives in the Midwest with her husband and two Akitas where she can look out from her screened porch onto a wooded area brimming with activity. Since she was a young girl she read mysteries, often given to her by her grandmother. She loved figuring out who the culprit was and sometimes she was right and other times startled at who the author picked as the assailant. Now she enjoys writing mysteries herself. When she isn't writing stories, she can be found in her favorite vacation spot, Las Vegas or shopping for bargains.
