The Harvester is an amazing read that I could not put down! Danielle Walsh is content with her monotonous routine, day after day, running her own café, Mon Félicité. She has everything she could ask for—friends, family, and success, but little does she know that her quiet, simple life is about to get a whole lot louder and much more complicated when she discovers the body of a young woman in the alley behind her café, and the very last thing she needs is a rude—albeit attractive—calloused detective to provoke her irritation… and arousal. Forced to work together to apprehend the murderer, Danielle has no choice but to reveal her strengths and insecurities to this stranger. The more time she spends with him, however, the more she notices the emptiness that her life had previously held, and the handsome homicide detective is causing her to question her seemingly happy existence. The attraction that quickly shot past a sizzling flame into a scorching inferno is threatening to crumble the walls she has built around herself. Having been burned before, Danielle is hesitant to allow her heart to open to a man that wields the power to break it. The true question is, who will be the one to steal her heart, the killer known as the Harvester or Adam? Adam Burke became a homicide detective with the sole purpose of stopping killers. When a case lands on his desk of a more disturbing nature, Adam is sent to investigate. While he is expecting a gruesome scene, he isn’t prepared for the gorgeous witness or the strong hold she immediately has on him. The struggle to remain professional gets exponentially harder when he has to go undercover as her lover, the ruse forcing—make that, allowing—him to do all the things he shouldn’t. Danielle Walsh is the very definition of beauty—both inside and out—and she is unceasingly testing the strength of his willpower to remain distant and not succumb to his desire for her. The pressure is on to catch the Harvester before he loses control. The author creates a world with such vivid descriptions that the reader feels present throughout the story and events that maintain the reader's engagement from the aptly named title throughout the ending credits. She weaves a tale of thoroughly relatable, strong-willed characters who find themselves on an unlikely journey and bound together both despite and because of unfortunate circumstances, and their personal adventure is as exciting as the tales outside of their budding relationship. This is a setting of feats, trials, and a few bombshells that may lead into additional tales later on! Her romance scenes are tempting and steamy, her suspense is almost as torturously irresistible, and I love that the setting is accurate. I can't wait to read her next novel! Hilary A. Zanca I enjoyed this book, because of Danielle's battle with her internal struggles, while simultaneously trying not to fall victim to the killer. I can relate to wanting to give in to temptations, and it was fun to see her give in to things that I wouldn't have. Also, if you like food, you will love this book, too! Who doesn't like food? I would like to read more about the characters and what comes next for them all. Jade Valle
