Living in the South, with all its' wonderful traditions, and rites of passage for young men, "The Hunter" is a story which should illicit much nostalgia for young sportsmen and even some senior readers, since the story takes place in the '60's. This tale is set in the famed Wateree River Swamp near Camden, South Carolina, and seen through the eyes of ten year old Vince, the youngest member of that 'coon hunting party. He has looked forward to this event for so long as is delighted to finally be coming of an age to be included in this foray into the swamp. However, Vince finds the experience provides him with a few surprises about his own life he'd never realized before.
