Book overview "Well Annie, when a hot as hell amnesiac shows up at your grandmother's bed and breakfast and introduces you to his hot girlfriend, apparently it results in a lot of sex, which resulted in a pregnancy." Seventeen-year-old Jeremy Campbell wakes up on the morning of May 1st waiting for Mother to present him with the scrapbook they've been working on to fill in the gaps in his memory. She never comes but it's not her fault —- she's dead. Jeremy leaves their shared farmhouse, the only home he's ever known (or so he thinks) to venture out into the world. He eventually comes across the Butter Churn B&B with a Help Wanted sign in the window. Working at the bed and breakfast gives him some relief from his chaotic past but his life is anything but cozy. Lylah, the owner's granddaughter, is determined to help him remember. The only problem is that once he does, he realizes that he already has a girlfriend named Annie despite the fact that he is now involved with Lylah. Not willing to be deterred by jealousy, the three form a polyamorous relationship and move in together, calling themselves "The Kindred", tied together by past abuse and trauma. As they rediscover themselves, their connection deepens into a tangled web of desire and trust. In a world where their abusers still cast a long shadow, uncovering the fragments of Jeremy's lost memories could be the key to liberation —- or the harbinger of new danger.
