The famous film director of a leading international film studio is found murdered on the set in the South Yorkshire town of Bromersley. Nearby, a penniless tramp has been shot dead with a gold sovereign in his mouth. There are neither clues nor DNA for either murder, but Detective Inspector Michael Angel tackles this case with his customary tenacity.
