An invisible woman is missing. Apprentice investigator Elliot Ransom doesn’t have much clout with the PI firm that recently hired her. When she meets a woman whose so-called riffraff sister has gone missing, Elliot feels the undeniable urge to help—with or without her boss’s official approval. The more Elliot learns about the case, the more she suspects the missing woman may be a victim of the notorious Beltway Killer. As she digs deeper, the underbelly of wealthy Storm River bubbles to the surface—as do new, dangerous enemies. Elliot must balance the advice found in her father’s old journal with the unscrupulous guidance of her mentor. But the closer to answers Elliot gets, the more of a target she becomes.
