Q: What's better than a hot, grumpy builder? A: A hot, grumpy, billionaire builder. Meet Aide, the ultimate book boyfriend. Lotta I may be a total princess, but I’m not looking for a prince. Or even my usual type of wealthy, overly-groomed playboy. I’m done with smooth. I want a bit of rough. A real man, with a real job. One who’s good with his hands and not afraid to get them dirty. Someone exactly like the foreman on the new community project my team’s volunteering on. Aide. He’s delicious. Even his name says “I know how to get the job done”. And his demeanour says “I could have you moaning in five seconds flat”. Aide Carlotta Montefiore-Charlton is as ridiculous as her name. She’s a pampered princess who’s totally out of her depth on a building site. Even her bras are incompetent at doing their basic job. Usually, I’d run a mile from a woman like her. But she looks like an angel, and I can’t stay away. It seems I’m her “bang a poor guy” project. It’s not on me that she’s underestimated my bank balance. By eight or nine zeroes. She has me all wrong. I can’t be her Mr Right. The Reluctant Billionaire is a super spicy, swoony, laugh-out-loud romcom with a HEA and cameos by some characters from my Love in London series. It's perfect for fans of Lucy Score, Pippa Grant, Melanie Harlow, Claire Kingsley and Meghan Quinn. Click the BUY NOW button above to devour this steamy standalone. I like to change things up! I spent my 20s as a banker and my 30s bringing up small children and running my own fashion brand (Madderson London). Now, aged 43, I find myself writing, and I wonder why I didn’t do it sooner. I’ve always loved writing. My daughter Tilly has an old notebook of mine filled with half-finished stories and accompanying drawings. I’ve read for as long as I can remember, guzzling up books so quickly that my mum always protested that I couldn’t be reading them properly. You can see my original, dog-eared version of A Little Princess in my photo. Its protagonist, Sara Crewe, is one of my all-time favourite heroines (alongside Anne Shirley, naturally). I published my first book, Metamorphosis, in February 2020, right before lockdown happened. It’s a non-fiction book about escaping from our cocoons and living as a butterfly. As lockdown progressed, I found escapism in devouring lots of delicious chick-lit (for want of a better title) and I realised I had a few novels in me too. I have loved every single minute of writing them. I’ve published my books independently, and I love the freedom it provides. The world of independent publishing is fascinating and so empowering—I’m delighted to share more of my experiences of self-publishing if you’re interested.
