In their last case together before Holmes' death at Reichenbach Falls, the duo travel to the picturesque town of Painswick to look into some unusual activity at the estate of a man suffering from dementia. Their client is certain his house is haunted, but the truth of the matter is even worse. The case starts off as a trifling matter, but bodies begin to add up, as do frustrating clues to Holmes' own mysterious past, much to Watson's growing curiosity.
