Seat Ardice leaves the famed Venerati Academy with her apprentice, searching for new, undiscovered items of magic. Having heard of a mystical Island, she goes in search of the elite Cassus Rangers who were rumored to have visited the island once. Her adventure begins with danger, obstacles and frustraions as she grows and changes, and learns what it's like to start caring for people. In particular, one very headstrong soldier who isn't very keen on going back to the island he barely escaped from the first time. Her small band of companions grows as they get closer to their destination and with every new addition comes another new lesson learned.
