The West Highland Way is unquestionably Britain's most spectacular long-distance walk, and an exhilirating challenge for the experienced walker - taking you from the outskirts of Scotland's largest city all the way to Britain's highest peak via stunning and truly wild mountain scenery. Starting at the edge of Glasgow, it heads to the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, with the full grandeur of the Highlands gradually revealing itself along an idyllic waterside walk. By Rannoch Moor we are among barren wilderness, then climbing the Devil's Staircase above the austere sweep of Glencoe, and finally traversing classic Highland landscapes to reach Fort William and the chance of a grand finale with an ascent of Ben Nevis.
