Thomas P. Miller is associate professor of English at the University of Arizona. His publications include The Selected Writings of John Witherspoon (1990), several articles on the rhetoric of the Scottish Enlightenment, and a volume entitled The Formation of College English Studies: Rhetoric and Belles Lettres in the British Cultural Provinces (1997).
