The epic series continues in book two! Before the dawn of a new age can begin, the old one must die. An empire will crumble. And a champion will lose. It’s the same every millennia when the cycle of prophecy begins anew. One by one, the kingdoms of Teitora fall to the words of a book written long ago. Samara Chrysos has assumed the title of princess of her father’s kingdom. Hiding in plain sight to shield herself from those who would see her executed simply for existing. She once longed for adventure, now she simply hopes to survive. To the empire, her sister, Odessa occupies the palace in their father’s absence. Only Samara and a few infuriatingly stubborn guards know the truth. Odessa is gone, scouring the farthest reaches of the kingdom for a way to survive the looming prophecy that would usher in the end of everything she holds dear. In her role, as the feared princess chosen by the Shadow Crown, stands Samara—a girl raised in isolation, unprepared and out of place. She knows little of the kingdom she was born into and even less of the storm that is fast approaching. And it is coming. Fire and ash. Flesh and blood. The empire will suffer the prophecies written long ago. Two sisters, destined to clash in battle. A forbidden guard, bound by oaths and secrets. And lies so dangerous, they could kill them all before the prophecy even has its chance. Join Samara and Odessa once again as they fight the prophecy, their enemies, and each other.

Melissa A. Craven (the "A" stands for Ann—in case you were wondering) was born near Atlanta, Georgia, but moved to Cleveland, Ohio at the age of seventeen. She still thinks of Cleveland as home, so it was only natural for Emerge to take place there. Today, she is back in Atlanta—for some reason she can't seem to stay away from the ungodly heat that makes her long for things like "lake effect snow" and wind that will knock you flat. Melissa decided a long time ago that the “life checklist” everyone else was clutching so tightly in their fists, just wasn’t for her. She does everything backwards because she is weird like that, but then, she is an artist and artists are notoriously "unique" and "quirky." She is an avid student of art and design, and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of West Georgia in 2009. She worked as an interior designer for several years, but she's always thought she might like to be a writer when she grows up. In her spare time, if she has any, she enjoys shopping for derelict furniture she refinishes to exercise the interior design part of her brain.

Michelle MacQueen is a USA Today bestselling author of love. Yes, love. Whether it be YA romance, NA romance, or fantasy romance (Under M. Lynn), she loves to make readers swoon. The great loves of her life to this point are two tiny blond creatures who call her "aunt" and proclaim her books to be "boring books" for their lack of pictures. Yet, somehow, she still manages to love them more than chocolate. When she's not sharing her inexhaustible wisdom with her niece and nephew, Michelle is usually lounging in her ridiculously large bean bag chair creating worlds and characters that remind her to smile every day - even when a feisty five-year-old is telling her just how much she doesn't know.
