This charming book was written during the Victorian Era by noted children's author, Sarah Schoonmaker Baker (1824–1906). Mrs. Baker also wrote under the pen name of "Aunt Friendly," and produced a number of quite popular children's books, which were not only engaging and fun to read, but taught moral lessons and inspired the building of solid character. This particular book is about a child named "Lucy," who lives with her father, brother, and sister. Her mother has died, and Lucy feels lost and scared. The arrival of her older sister from boarding school makes a difference in little Lucy's life, as she shares with her that they are all under the care of the Gentle Shepherd. A beautifully published book that would make a splendid gift, especially for a child that has experienced some form of loss. In both hard cover and paperback.
