For over a decade, Topher has been plagued by mental illness. Through countless diagnoses, dozens of medications, doctors, counselors, and unbearable psychological pain, writing seemed to be not only an escape, but a way to make sense of what he was feeling. What was once a journal meant never to be read by anyone else turned into a book. Topher saw the state of the mental health system and the stigma surrounding mental disorders and set out to show people what suffering from such an unpredictable and insidious illness really looked like. "The BPD Journals: A Year in the Life” was the first instalment in the raw and unfiltered "The BPD Journals" series. Seeing the positive response to the first book, he released a second volume titled "The BPD Journals II: Remission and Relapse” two years later. This one with the intent to show that those who suffer from mental illness are not alone. To show that there is hope, and it is okay to falter. With book sales and his online following growing, Topher released the third instalment, "The BPD Journals III: Stable Instability” in August 2017. In December 2020 ‘The BPD Journals Collection: Books I - III’ was released.
