She wrote and drew her own series Lady Killer, published by Dark Horse comics. Jones has also provided illustration work for a number of clients, including Prada and the New York Times.

As a writer, her most famous works are Redlands and the reboot of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Bellaire is credited with starting the "Comics are for everybody" initiative to make the comic book community more inclusive and compassionate.
