Tzeyi Koay (馃攰 Zee-Kway) is a Chinese-Malaysian, Australian-based lawyer turned fantasy writer. She grew up in a kampung鈥攁 small Malaysian village鈥攕urrounded by the stories and traditions that would later inspire her work. Her stories draw on Chinese culture and mythology, as well as by her family鈥檚 practice of Chinese folk religion. Her debut romantasy novel, A Curse Carved in Ink, will be published in January 2027 by Simon & Schuster UK and Atria Books Australia. Since acquisition, global excitement has led to auctions in several territories, with rights sold into Germany (Heyne), Italy (Newton Compton), Spain (Minotauro/Planeta) Hungary (General Press/Lira) and Poland (Uroboros/Foksal). When she鈥檚 not writing, Tzeyi can be found singing and nurturing her ever-growing collection of books and plants鈥攊ncluding a terrarium she built with her partner inside an IKEA cabinet.
