This is a book written about my experiences during the occupation of Guernsey by the Nazi forces. It attempts to show what experiences people of all ages had during a long period of stress and strain. Many found courage to face the future because of their belief in God; others broke down the barriers of class for the first time and continued to do so in peacetime. But it was our Guernsey statesmen and leaders who set a great example of determination to give their people the best deal possible, even thought their hands were always tied and their lives were always at great risk.
