I can’t recall the last time a man ran his hands over my naked body before shaking my hand. To be clear, I’m not saying it’s never happened. It’s just been a while. But when Niko arrives at my home to provide a massage, his hands and my thoughts are all over the place. I only resist hitting on my sexy new massage therapist because, as a psychologist, I have my own set of firm professional boundaries. However, Niko’s surprise arrival at The San Francisco Adventurers Meetup may give me another chance to see if his boundaries are as firm as his touch. I’m hopeful that by going on some daring excursions together, Niko will see me as much more than a client. I’ll get to see if he’s the man I really want; someone who is willing takes emotional risks, not just physical ones. Someone who can reveal his fears, doubts, and insecurities. It’s easy to be infatuated with a beautiful blank page—all projection, no imperfection. I’m searching for something much deeper, and I worry about finding another client in disguise. Or to my dismay, I might learn I’m not the adventure Niko’s looking for.
