Velveteen is a self-published author living in Bedfordshire, UK. Her first novel 'Roamers' began as a screenplay in 2006. She scrapped it, however, in favour of trying her hand at writing a novel. Velveteen is currently working on the second instalment in the Roamers series, which picks up exactly where the first ends. Finding the time to sit down and write can be tricky. Velveteen has a seven-year-old son who has high functioning autism, and works while he is at school, so her days can be pretty full on! She always carries a notebook and pen, and during her lunch breaks at work often jots down some ideas to type up when her son is in bed. Writing gives her an opportunity to sit at her computer and think from someone else’s perspective for a while. She enjoys the ability to create and immerse herself in a fictitious universe and build three dimensional characters with their own thoughts, feelings, problems and relationships, and escape from what can otherwise feel like a monotonous reality.
