Waking Up is the raw and thought-provoking portrait of a young woman’s existential search for self-discovery as she articulates the anxiety and apathy that inevitably come with being creative. Taiha is about to turn twenty-one. She just graduated from fashion school and is desperate to retrieve the creativity she lost there. Taken directly from the pages of Taiha’s journal, she chronicles her life in Vancouver during the Spring of 2009, working in bars and taking internships, navigating relationships, and trying to make sense of her life after losing everything in a fire. Through her distinct and intimate style, Taiha’s voice captures the unspoken truth of every creative young woman’s thirst for purpose, meaning, and self-expression.
