Jean Little, a successful author of three novels for young readers (at the time of publication) sings in these poems because it is in her to do so, and also because she has things to say that can best be said within the forms of poetry. The poems in this book were chosen for inclusion because they spoke to others, too. Now they will bring pleasure and appreciation to all those who earlier have read Jean Little's books, as well as those who meet her here for the first time. Jean Little was born in Formosa (Taiwan), the daughter of two medical missionaries. Educated in Canada, she now lives in Guelph, Ontaria From the overleaf of the 1968 edition
