I drank alcohol for 36 years and quit. In one sense, my relationship with alcohol was uneventful. I didn't run anyone over or have children taken into care. I didn't even hit rock bottom when I decided to quit. But in another sense, alcohol ruled my life, sometimes destructively. But I never thought to banish it. In fact I did everything in my power to protect it; include it; make excuses for it whenever I made an arse of myself. My book is therefore for anyone who drinks a bit too much. No psycho-babble or heavy-handed persuasion. Just honesty and a bit of humour. You have to do the rest - join your own dots to understand your relationship with alcohol! My book will help you with this. I now volunteer as an alcohol and drug recovery worker in London. I write alcohol articles for soberistas.com and posts blogs on my website notalcoholicbut.com I also speak at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary's alcohol events (organised by their HEAT team). I live in South East London with my partner.
