Elina is a fairy born without wings. She has never known the gift of flight, thus, she is an outcast among her own people. However, she has found love in the form of Princess Cornelia, heir to the Fairy Kingdom, and soon finds a mother figure in a mortal woman, Sophie Thumb. However, when Elina is taken from her home under orders from the fairy queen, she is forced to undergo a perilous journey that may rob her of her mother, her true love, and possibly her own life. Corny has never been more certain of anything than her love for Elina. Even with pressure from her mother and her sense of duty driving a wedge between the two of them, Corny cannot imagine a life without Elina in it. Thus, when she discovers Elina's disappearance and her mortal mother struck with a deathly illness, Corny is forced to work with one she harbors resentment for in order to find the one she loves most and bring her home.
