Baker and Hacker (both Oxford U.) analyze in detail Anglo-German philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein's (1889-1951) argument in the first 184 remarks of his posthumously published Philosophical Investigations (1953). Their treatise was published in 1980 as Wittgenstein—Understanding and Meaning, an analytical commentary on the Philosophical Investigations, and has been reprinted often. It has been divided into two volumes for the paper edition, the second titled Wittgenstein—Meaning and Understanding. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
