David C. Hall was born in Wisconsin in 1943 and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, but has lived most of his life in Spain. His first novel was published in Spanish as Cuatro días in 1984, and since then he has published crime fiction—novels and short stories—both in Spain and in the United States. His novels are set in and around Barcelona and generally involve an international cast of characters, along with the traditional Mediterranean obsessions of politics, sex, and gastronomy. His latest novel, Barcelona Skyline, won the 2011 Ciudad de Getafe Crime Novel Prize.
